Google has been working hard on capturing the street views in the Google Maps.
First lets see the use of Street views in our daily lives, with street views we can see the view of the street and get a fair idea about a place where we have to go or we can share it to some of our distant friends/relatives and show them where we live, and for some people we can use it for sharing their business address more accurately and easily. I am sure there would be many other benefits of street views which i may not be able to capture in here.
But what's next...
... How about having a video for our directions available in youtube!
Let me explain this a bit, so let's say we have to go from our house to the nearest tourist spot which is around 150 miles away. As of today we go to maps.google.com and get the direction, and able to view these directions in Terrain/Maps/Hybrid view. Google has already created the Street views so picture of each of the street are present with google. If these pictures can be put in a sequence and the created sequence converted to video, then we can view our directions like a video, as if we had travelled to the place already ! We can even fast forward the video( as if we were travelling at more than 100MPH) so as to cover the whole travel in less than 10 minutes.
This will help people to picturize their travel in advance and they can choose their own stops.
